Ahh another week has passed...

Are your weeks flying by like mine?!? I want to assure you I completed week 6 workout plan....you can see on mt phone on the runkeeper app..i just haven't made it to the blog. I really like taking time to read other blogs too and that just didn't seem to happen last week. This has been a busy week already..Sarah and I are getting ready to have a yard sale at our house for our missions trips. After reading the book 7 by Jen Hatmaker and going on a mission trips I just feel like I don't need much "stuff" anymore! There is so many things we have that just don't matter. Well sorry to get off topic but it's just been on my mind!

Yesterday night I ran solo...I read Philippians 4:13
I can do everything through him who gives me strength. My workout was HARD last night! but yet again God was faithful and I completed it! I am beginning to wonder how I ever ran without God! The more and more I run the more and more I am relying and trusting on him. I just don;t know how people live without him! Tonight at church Aislynn Holt shared with us. She did such an amazing job. It made me want to be on the mission field now not in June or July! Now I am waiting for Sarah to get home from church and it's time for week 7 workout 2!!

I won a Kindle Fire from the Joy FM!!! I have only played on it for literally a few minutes but its going to be fun! Went and saw October Baby last night ..I recommend that everyone sees it!! Today was the Disaster Relief training....I was debating about not going but glad I did. Looking forward to enjoying the rest of the weekend! God is good!

Spring Break is winding down...

WOW! What an awesome week! I can promise you I was running and maybe even a little too much. I just wanted to recap and reflect on the week and then I’ ll share with you what I learned on my solo run this morning!

This week I did it…I actually relaxed. I read 6 books! Ahh yes 6 and on my 7th! I love to read. My favorite book this week was called 7 by Jen Hatmaker…I definitely recommend this book! Today during my run I was thinking about the last week and I asked myself Yeah you read all those books but how many pages of the bible did you read?! Ekkkk..I don’t have to answer that one on here do I? Moving on…J

This week I also had a chance to do a workout with Brittanie and Leah! I also got to go to FITniche with Jamie and Linda for Ladies Night. We won for having driven the farthest. Two of us had Run For God shirts on and we were asked by 3 people about them!! We got to share about the 5K challenge, the bible study and the run!! Jamie also won a $56 sport bra!! It was a very successful night;which also continued to a very successful Friday! Jamie told me that Paul at won the Friday Free For All on the JoyFM ..I then reminded Sarah….when we were in the car it was time to call….and I WON!! So much fun!

Anyway I will finally get to today’s run…… I went out solo because Sarah is at a Hunter’s safety courseJ so she can bring home the bacon, literallyJ I also remember to wear a green shirt running so I wouldn’t get pinched. I almost did by a huge dog that charged after my but I screamed and yelled and it retreated back to it’s house. Not only did I think about this weeks reading choices but running solo I also realized this is the first time I did a Run For God workout by myself. This was actually the first time I had ran outside by myself. It was different. Who have to rely on when you are by yourself?!? And are you putting your faith in Him? Looking forward to the next run!- Running for him, Jess

First day of spring break and it's off to a running start:)

Last night was the Strawberry Festival and Toby Mac. It was great! Many of his songs are on my running mix so I was ready to run last night! But....we waited until this morning! Cars were in our way so we stayed on the opposite side and did our route backwards. Its so amazing how one little change can make you see things differently!

Hebrews 6:1
“Therefore let us leave the elementary teaching about Christ and go on to maturity. Not laying again the foundation of repentance from acts that lead to death and of faith in God.” (NIV)

Sometimes doing something twice is a good thing!

John 14: 21
“Whoever has my commands and obeys them, he is the one who loves me. He who loves me will be loved by my Father, and I too will love him and show myself to him.” (NIV)

So I did my run workout at the Y and didn't have the verse with me to read :/. Sarah comes home and says ..."Want to Run after church?" I say sure..this time I will read the verse and do it right.

And let me tell you my second workout felt great! It just shows you if you give more you will be rewarded. It also shows that I've got more I can give. Whether it's time, money or energy..I've got to give more for Him and he will reward!-Jess

Running on a Friday afternoon?!? Who does that...

Well, As I was still working at school I saw Leah H. and Brittanie B running!! Woohooo! I decided to run for Him and so..... run on Friday afternoon I must...I headed to the Y!

I started my workout on the treadmill just as CNN announced breaking news...several tornadoes were hitting land in Tenn, KY, and IN! I had a Wow moment! I was there at the Y to pray during my workout! I think that was my most exhausting workout so far! Please pray for those families and communities in need!

Psalms 119:32
“ I run in the path of your commands, for you have set my heart free.” (NIV)

Mid Week

Isaiah 40:31
“ but those who hope in the Lord will renew their strength. They will soar on wings like eagles; they will run and not grow weary, they will walk and not be faint.”(NIV)

The Run For God group is just that ....a group that will help renew strength! It is so important to surround ourselves with people that will be there and help to remind us who is ultimately in control! Todays workout went great(missed Himie though) ....looking forward to the next!

It's been toooo long....

Sorry I haven't been posting...I did manage to get 2 of the three workouts in last week with my head! I started week 3 off right with Run For God and a workout tonight! Wow is all I can say about tonight. It turned out to be a blessing that Tania joined us last minute at Run For God. What a great story about her found purpose for running! It was also awesome to see us come together as a group to pray for Macey, someone that I may know know but God does!

Proverbs 24:16
“…For though a righteous man falls seven times, he rises again, but the wicked are brought down by calamity.”(NIV)

Happy President's Day

I am posting today ...but I want you all to know that I did my workout yesterday to finish up week 2 I promise!! Don't forget we are repeating week 2 this week because we are not meeting today because of the Fair!

Philippians 3:12-14
Not that I have already obtained all this, or have already been made perfect, but I press on to take hold of that for which Christ Jesus took hold of me. Brothers, I do not consider myself yet to have taken hold of it. But one thing I do: Forgetting what is behind and straining toward what is ahead, I press on towards the goal to win the prize for which God has called me heavenward in Christ Jesus.(NIV)

I think in our daily walk remembering to press on is so important! We need to remember that as we repeat week 2. I am so encouraged by our group and how it is growing! Please keep encouraging one another to press on!

Sometimes there can be really great stuff in the news! Check this out

Week 2 Day 2:)

Galatians 5:7
You were running a good race. Who cut in on you and kept you from obeying the truth? (NIV)

As I was applying this to my day....all I could come up with is I actually had a pretty good one. WE may take life day by day but have to remember what lies ahead. So I decided to refer to the (instructor's notes) for this one:)....

Oh man and the first line..."The answer to this question is too often ourselves. We get caught in what we think of reel instead of what God say." Umm yea so maybe I was thinking how no one caused a "slip" today, I was not focusing this first on myself. What a thought...I am wondering what others in the group were thinking about! Too bad I have to wait two weeks. Feel free to comment a post before then!

Week 2 Workout 1

Acts 20:19-24
I serve the Lord with great humility and with tears, although I was severely tested by the plots of Jews. You know that I have not hesitated to preach anything that would be helpful to you but have taught you publicly and from house to house. I have declared to both Jews and Greeks that they must turn to God in repentance and have faith in our Lord Jesus. And now, compelled by the Spirit, I am going to Jerusalem, not knowing what will happen to me there. I only know that in every city the Holy Spirit warns me that prison and hardships are facing me. However, I consider my life worth nothing to me, If only I may finish the race and complete the task the Lord Jesus has given me- the task of testifying to the gospel of God’s grace. (NIV)

Today's workout was very encouraging. A group of us went the Y right after the meeting! I can't wait to see us working out in our Run For God shirts....we will be able to witness that way too!! Running for him, Jess

Meeting #2

Just like I posted on FB...I am really looking forward to Mondays:) Who wants to go back to a work week...but when we make it God's Week...it's so much better! I would have never thought that I could lead something like this! I am glad that I put my Faith in him! Not meeting next week because of the Hardee County Fair! Next meeting Monday, Feb 26th!!- Jess

Workout 3

Therefore, since we are surrounded by such a great cloud of witnesses, let us throw off everything that hinders and the sin that so easily entangles, and let us run with perseverance the race that is marked out for us. (NIV) Hebrews 12:1-3

I woke up at 7am this Sunday morning to do day 3! BRRRRRR was it cold!!

I woke up to an annoying message that someone had sent me...this verse is just what I needed to hear. Instead of responding I put on my running clothes (pants:( ) and read this verse. Instead of what I wanted to do respond to the message in a not so nice way I was able to collect my self and was reminded that I need to be that witness.

Today's workout was great even for being cold, windy and early!

During the route there was one point where an ambulance an several police cars were at a house taking someone out in stretcher. I took that opportunity to pray for that individual and family. It got me thinking on how praying for others needs to happen and can happen at any opportunity! Looking forward to RUN For God tomorrow at 6:30pm YMCA Teen Building!

R4G Workout 2

2 Timothy 4:7
I have fought the good fight, I have finished the race, I have kept the faith. (NIV)

So yes day 2 was harder! It felt great to get out an enjoy. After a few intervals the wind picked up and that optimistic that attitude can change quick. I began to reflect on things and about the struggles of going against God like running into the wind! When we focus on him it can make even running against the wind enjoyable!
Looking forward to great fellowship tonight at Oak Grove for the Youth's Annual Valentine dinner. Then up early Sunday to start the day worshiping him by running with him for workout 3. Enjoy your Saturday!

Starting the Challenge

So I did it..I started today....The Run For God 5K Challenge!

1 Corinthians 9:24 Do you know that in a race all runners run, but only one gets the prize? Run in such a way as to get the prize. (NIV)

I tried out the RunKeeper(free app download) on my iphone to keep the walking and jogging intervals and it worked great! Pretty easy to set up...feel free to ask and I can show you how!

Tonight Sarah and I set out and as we started off of course I joked, "Well if two of us are running one of use has to get the prize;)" We both were sporting a Run For God shirt...if one person saw and read our shirt...it was worth the price!

I can honestly say today was a first... I read the verse before I set out and as I was doing the intervals I was not focused on getting the workout over with but I was reflecting on my day! As each interval happened (going from walking to jogging back to walking 8 times mind you!) I was thinking about my day and how I may and may not have reflected the character of Christ. I thought of today's walk with Christ how it was speed up and slowed down with events but like each running interval it was a learning experience.

I know today's workout is just a new beginning in this journey and well today might have been exciting tomorrow will be different. I am truly excited to be sharing it with you and for him! -Jess
